.243 BLR mis-firing
« on: October 11, 2004, 05:12:58 AM »
Hello,

I've got a .243 BLR that I use for deer hunting.  I've used it for 12 years and never had an issue, until now.  This past weekend I sighted it in for the upcoming season and 2 times in a dozen shots the hammer only went up as far as the safety position and the gun didn't fire.  Any ideas what may be causing this?  I'd hate to have it happen with a big deer in the scope.

I can supply more info. if needed.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Walt

Walt-

Welcome to GBO.  I'm sorry to say, I don't have a BLR, so I don't believe I'll hazard any guesses about your rifle.  Be sure to post your question on the Gunsmithing forum here at Graybeard.  Pretty much everybody here will be happy to help, and I suspect that someone will track down an answer for you pretty soon.

I had the same weapon in the same caliber with the same problem. My firing pin broke w/o warning 2 years ago. It was  returned it to browning and they repaired and returned it w/in a reasonable time. Good luck. db
