Wallyworld deals
« on: October 09, 2004, 08:43:07 AM »
Wallyworld is doing their clearance deals on guns.  I was just in the one in Peoria, AZ and they had a Weatherby Vanguard 30-06 with wood stock for $400.  The same with synthetic was $300.  Yesterday my dad picked up a Savage package bolt gun in .270 with a Simmons scope for $250.00 at the one in Cottonwood AZ - said they still have a good selection at that store.

It must not be hunting season in AZ.  Prices hold their own here until mid-winter or spring.

Hi All,
I usually hang out over on the NEF forum.  The wallyworld deal is for real.  It seems they are clearing out all of the Weatherby Vanguard rifles, from what a clerk told me, assuming he knew what he was talking about.  Going to carry another line or something he said.  Anyway, I picked up a WV in 270 win. the other day for $250, blue with syn stock.  Was in another store today, they had a 30-06 same same for $250.  I did not need or really want the 270, just could not pass up such a good deal.  If anyone finds a 243 or 22-250 WV and wants a 270 I would do a trade as I haven't fired mine yet.  Still in the box.  Check out the wallyworlds in your area.  They are clearing out some great deals.  Saw a Simmons Aetec the other day for $69.  Have an extra 3-9x40 now that I don't have a rifle for so had to pass on it.  Seems like when they get the wild hair they just cut a bunch of stuff loose, what ever the price.

Wal-Mart clearance
« Reply #5 on: October 15, 2004, 12:00:11 PM »
Thanks to Azshooter's post and follow-ups, I just snagged a Weatherby Vanguard .30-'06 for $250. Having never hunted, I certainly don't need it, but the impulse to purchase was too great.

I did see a .243 at one of the stores I went to, just need to try to remember where. I did see a Handi Rifle in .243 for $175.00 at Wal-Mart but that didn't push me over the hump.

Man, I really need to hit some of the local stores to check out prices.   The only thing I saw on sale at the last Wal-mart I went to was a Remington M597 for $75.  Great deal, but I certainly don't need another .22LR.  If I could find a Vanguard in just about anything other .30-06 for $250 I think I'd go for it :).

I went to the local Wal-Marts around Austin, and found many Vanguards for $200-250, as well as last years Savages w/o Accutrigger for $175.  That's right folks, $175.  If anyone here in Austin is interested, let me know and I'll tell you which stores have what.  Good hunting!

Well the deals here in MT only lasted about 5 days last month, and they went back to the original prices. Wby Vangaurds were $350, and Savages $300. Than the wood stock Wby Vangaurds went for $400 and that lasted 3 days. If they would have been $250 like others are saying, I would have bought one maybe two.

I got the 30-06 Vanguard that I have been wanting since I posted here abut them back in July. SWEET DEALS on these guns. The word is that it is nationwide and the prices are the same everywhere . Heck I'm even trying to scheme one of them Savage 7Mags up now. Check out the thread "Wally World goof up" in the NEF centerfires forum for more info.

Well here goes, Just posted this on the NEF Centerfire forum where I usually hang out.
Had to make a trip from SW OK to NE OK today, must have gone to about 8 wallyworlds. These specials are going fast. Missed a 7 Rem mag in the Weatherby Vanguard by about 4 hours. Finally found in OKC a 7 mag in the savage 110 but decided not to get it because of the crappy simmons scope and the fact that it had a very light weight barrel and did not have the new accutrigger. Could just see that barrel getting so hot you couldn't touch it in about three shots. All these plus 3 243 savages with the slightly better simmons scope and some WV 30-06 and 270 Win for $250. Finally I bought a savage 110 in 243. I already have a custom 243 on a commercial mauser action, what the he... do I need with another 243. Just like the wife, when you see a bargain, buy it, need does not inter into the equation. So now I have a 270 win in the Weatherby Vanguard and a 243 in the Savage 110. Go figure. Totally nuts.  I confess, only to this group, not my wife. Still have the 243 in my pickup, maybe get it out to the shop tomorrow. Once it is there it is just another rifle like the others. I hope this is the last of these good deals after two rifles and a pickup load of relaoading stuff, 2 dillon presses, etc last week, I am so broke.........   Guess I better get started loading some ammo for the next big shoot out. Oh yeah, also bought a chrony. You know, got to know how fast them suckers are going. Bye the bye, Chronoed one of the 22-250 rounds that WW advertises at 4000 fps. Out of my Shilen barreled custom FN Mauser, it read 4093 fps. That was just one shot. Can't wait till I can go to the range with my own chrony and see what all this stuff reads. As someone said on this forum, I am a happy puppy.

Thanks alot for the info!!!   I've been thinking about buying a Vanguard in 270win for a while now and when I read $250 !!!! I called them right up.  They had one left.  Funny thing is it wasn't even marked down on the tag.  It still said $389.00   I had just looked at it a couple of days ago.  I would never have known it was on sale!  Thanks alot guys.

Howdy,

I just picked up a Savage 110 package rifle in 7mm Rem Mag, synthetic stock,  for $175 from Wally World.  No Accu-trigger, but still a great deal.

FWIW I picked up a NIB Savage Mark I .22 single shot bolt action for my daughter (her first gun) for $50.00 at the local Wally World last friday evening.  I wish they would have had another one since my son (who is 2) will need a rifle too when he gets a little older.

Thanks for the tip guys.  I've been looking for a 243 and picked up the Savage 110FPX package deal in that caliber for $250.00 today.  Best deal I've seen for a long time.

I had to do it too. I picked up a vangaurd in 3006 for 250.00 last night. It wasn't a major necessity, but too good to pass up.

Does anyone know where there might be Savage in 25-06 Rem within driving distance of South Central OK?....only 11 miles from the Red River.

Wallyworld clearance guns
« Reply #23 on: October 31, 2004, 04:15:47 PM »
Stopped by the local Wallyworld two days ago with the wife. Strolled over to take a peek at the guns and saw a Remington 700 in .270 with a wood stock and a Savage 110 in .243 with synthetic stock and Simmons 3-9X scope. Both were marked with clearance tags and each was priced at $200. Immediately started salivating. Snuck back to the store today sans wife. Unfortunately, both guns were gone. Had some time to spare so i drove about 20 miles to another Wallyworld. This one had the .243 Savage in stock, same $200 price. I didn't really need either of the two guns mentioned. In my neck of the woods, if you hunt deer with a long gun, you're limited to shotguns with slugs. But I guess I could always use the .243 for varmints. Anyway, it came home with me. Now I've just got to get it out of the truck and into the house where it will blend in with the others. Last year when they had their clearance I picked up a Winchester 94AE in 30/30 for $200. Didn't really need that one either, but it was something I had wanted for a while. I may end up broke if they keep marking down guns.
