Gas Leak In 7400 Semi-???
« on: October 05, 2004, 04:53:19 AM »
Picked up a used 7400 in .06 caliber.  Am waiting for Remington is send me an operator manual for the gun.   There is a evident gas leak when fired.  Smoke comes from between the barrel forend area.  Unit will still eject spent round and chamber another.  ( Well, not always chamber a round)  But a good cleaning should help.   Any suggestions what I should look for to correct the gas leak?  I'm about ready to take the forend off without the manual but would like opinions. Thanks.  DG

Maybe not much of a gas leak. That's where the expansion area is. Go ahead and take the forarm off, nothing will fly out.  You might have some crud in there. You can download the manual at Remington.com.

Check the area around part 44 and 45 on the exploded diagram. It might be crudded up.

You can download the owners manual for the 7400 at:  http://www.remington.com/magazine/downloads.htm#manuals
