Two more weeks till red stag/fallow and boar, oh yeah.
« on: October 04, 2004, 04:01:38 PM »
Hi All,

Long time lurker.  Two more weeks till red stag, fallow and boar in NY.  Wish I could get the time for a more exotic locale, but, work is just too volatile.  I'm going to Old Stone Fence in Rensselaer Falls NY.  The owner has a some good red stag, particularly a 8x9 that he's holding for me.  I'm looking for some venison and a wall hanger.  I figure I'd take a pair of Ruger #1's (a 45/70 and a 243) and have some fun.  He also tells me he's got over 300lb hogs.  Having shot one that big already does very little to quell my excitement for another (just hope they've got descent teeth).  The fallow s the question though.  I've shot two. One in TX and the other at another preserve in NY and I'm looking for a real wallhanger.

This is my fall back trip however.  I was booked into Indian head ranch in DelRio Tx for audad, oryx and javelina, but, time tight this year.  No matter...Old Stone will fill the bill for 2004.

Will post pics if anyone is interested.

Regards,

Doug

You'll have to let us know how the hunt goes at this place. I can probably be assured that many hunters would like to get a good opinion on the various hunting preserves in the east.

The other day my friend chatted with me about going to some place for wild boar this Christmas vacation. In the northeast, the options arfe a tad limited. I hunted a place in Pennsylvania that was like hunting in a barn yard. We are both looking for more of a challege. I would like to know how well that hunt goes.

Hi All,

I'm always interested in exotics.  I've hunted quite a few places.  My time is really tight and I can usually fit a few days in every year.  I think exotics are cool and hogs are the nuts!

Anyway, here my link for more pics if you are interested.
