I have a Winchester Featherweight Classic chambered in 6.5X55. It has become one of my favorite whitetail deer rifles. It is quite accurate with my handloads. A few groups have measured well under 1". I think it would average 1.5" or less at 100 yards. If I shoot it hot, the group size opens some. I don't find this to be a problem.  It is more than accurate enough for a hunting rifle. Never confuse a hunting rifle with a bench gun.

I have the same rifle as the TNrifleman, and my results mirror his.  THey are a great handling and feeling rifle, and if the price is right, go for it.....

rp85,

Yeah, you guessed it! I have the M70 Featherweight in............6.5x55, too!
But, my rifle is not the "Classic" and was built just before Winchester brought out the "Classic Series".
My rifle shoots well with the Nosler 120g Ballistic Tip, Hornady 140g SP, and the Hornady 129g SP.
With 140g bullets, velocities between 2,700-2,800 fps. are easily reached. I get 2,900+ fps. from the Hornady 129g., and .5" groups.

I like the feel of this rifle. The stock fits me very well!

You can't have mine!!!

Don't worry about the mule..........just load the wagon!

I have a .243 Featherweight, purchased this past summer.  With 300 rounds through it I can echo the comments above.  I will typically get 1 very tight group each day at the range, but they'll spread if I don't take my time between shots.  As an aside, my gun really likes Hornady 100 gr. Lt. Mags.
