rifled barrel and foster slugs ?
« on: September 29, 2004, 12:58:24 PM »
just wondering if anyone knows if you can shoot foster slugs out of a rifled barrel without hurting it i know it probably wont be as accurate but im just curious cause the sabots work good but they cost an arm and leg thanks in advance

it can be done & it works.
but it will lead your barrel pretty quick, and the sabots are usually more effective past 70 yards or so.....the poor ballistic coefficients of Foster style slugs cannot be overcome.
but im sure that within 90 yards they'd be fine.

CJ,

See if you can find some Winchester silver box BRI sabot slugs

Around here they cost only a little more (about $1 a box) than the rifled slugs
My experience is they are very acceptable for accuracy.

I know what you are saying regarding some of the sabot slug prices.... 5 shells for $10 or more is hard on the bank account.
