Coach Gun
« on: September 28, 2004, 08:49:17 PM »
Hi there

I am new to shotguns and wanted to know why you would buy a coach gun instead of a longer more traditional shotgun

I want to go geese shooting and also take the odd pig with a shottie. I like the appeal of a shorter barrelled weapon but am unsure if it will be practical.

Any help/advise as to why or why not a coach gun would be helpful

regards

:D pigman. The short-barrelled gun would be perfect for pigs, it is fast to get into action in tight places. But geese require a smoother swing and follow through than you can get with such a short light gun. Thats why most waterfowl guns have long barrels. It is the momentum of the long barrel that keeps the gun moving ahead of the target.
You could make do on pigs with a proper goose gun, but I don't think you would be happy trying it the other way around. Just my  :money:
