Can you shoot cast bullets in a ported barrel ?

I would like to shoot some cast bullets in a 45-70 but its ported will it work ? :?

The ports allow for some serious gas cutting on the plain base bullets and will destroy your accuracy.:cry:

...you need to check your ported area for debris, and you will get whiteish/blue streaks outside of the vents...it wipes off easily though, but all the same ....I just didnt like it...and stopped doing it.  I dont know about un-checked bullets.
