Tikka Replacement Stock
« on: September 18, 2004, 01:48:44 PM »
My Tikka WTH 30-06 has a couple of interesting splits in it.  I intend to begin to repair it, but this is close to hunting season.

I've got e-mails in to Beretta, Tikka, and Sako asking about replacement stocks, but have not received an answer yet.

Does anyone know of a place where I can order/buy a synthetic replacement stock for this rifle?  (I'd prefer a factory model...but will consider another manufacturer if I can't find one).

I got the best response by calling them on the phone.  Both to Beretta USA and also to Sako in Finland.  I would think that they would replace the stock pronto.  Where are the cracks?  Let us know how you do.

Called Beretta....probably not a warranty item.  I could send it in for them to examine. But Serv. Rep. said it probably wouldn't be covered.

Asked about cost of factory synthetic stock for a 695 action.... $486...

I will repair the stock I guess...and then watch for cheap used TIkkas going up for sale online.

Are you serious!!!???  $486 sounds like the price of a new action, stock, ammo and a sling too!

I know you wanted a synthetic, but I did notice that Richard's Micro-fit stocks (www.gun-stocks.com) will cut a Tikka 695 action (says 8 week production time).  It's wooden and you'd have to finish it yourself, but the economy wood models (strong wood just not much figure or grain) start at $55.  That's a heck of a lot cheaper than what you're looking at.  Just a thought.

I have been going through the replacement stock options as well, and finally made a decision last night.  I have a new Winchester SuperShadow .300 WSM and I hate the cheapo 'plastic' stock on it.  Check out www.bellandcarlson.com   I ordered the Medalist style with the aluminum bedding already in it in Advantage camo.  I ordered it from Midway USA for about $229.  A buddy of mine has a Bell and Carlson stock as well as a Brown Precistion stock, which costs twice as much, and actually prefers the Bell and Carlson.  Just an option, hope it helps!
Good hunting!
