I hesitate to go  against the grain here but fair is fair. I've learned a ton from y'all and respect you accordingly.

After owning several Taurus revolvers, I finally had to send one back, a new 431. It was returned to me in about a month properly fixed, no problem.

I have ZERO experience with Taurus autos but am in need of a model 92/99. Any OBJECTIVE input to be had?

Thanks for all the wisdom, I really enjoy this site,

I have a 92 compact thats a terrific shooter. I did have to send it back to Taurus once because the locking block cracked. The gun never shoot very good before it broke and I suspect it was never locking up properly. After I got it back it shot great groups and never fails to function. Do I think its as good as a Barretta? No, but for the money its a really nice pistol. Seems like turn around for the repair was around a month. I have also been following the Taurus service bashing and really can't voice an opinion since my experience was several years ago. I can say that I don't believe the quality is as good as it was a couple of years ago. At least from what I have seen.   KN

Totin, I baught a PT 99 stainless, several years ago, mostly because I liked its looks.  This gun was my first 9mm, so I had nothing to compare it to.  Now that I have had the gun long enough to reflect on its performance, I have to say, I hope all of my guns turn out to be as good.

First off, this Taurus has never ever failed to feed, jammed, or any way malfunctioned.  As a matter of fact, it has never failed to fire.  The frosting on the cake is that its accuracy is amazing.  I have used this gun for target shooting from 100 yards and the results are at least as good as any handgun that I have

Over the years, I have tried many different brands and loads of ammo and the gun just doesn't care what I put into it.

One of the magazines that I have for the 99 is a 17 rounder, so with one in the chamber, you have 18 rounds of fire power.  That makes this gun a very serious personal protection weapon.

Finally, this is the easiest pistol in the world to strip for cleaning.  Do I recommend the Taurus PT 99--you bet.

I am glad to hear positive reports about Taurus.. I personally have not had to send a gun back to Taurus, but in looking at brand new ones I have came across a number of them that needed to be sent back. That is what scares me, however I would not hesitate to buy a Raging Bull model.. :D
