Nosler Custom Rifles
« on: September 14, 2004, 07:07:14 PM »
Nosler Custom Rifles. You read that correctly. Nosler has entered the Custom Rifle business.

These rifles will feature high grade Turkish Walnut stocks, custom made scope mounts, Wiseman #2 contour SS match grade barrels. They come with an accuracy guarantee of 1/2" at 100 yards using Nosler Custom Ammo. They are shipped with two boxes of Nosler Custom ammo and an air line approved metal hard case. Look for a price of $3995 on these.

As more info becomes available I'll post it here. I believe the URL that will cover these will be: http://www.noslercustom.com/ but at this time the site is not up and running. They are adding so many new products they are having a hard time getting all the website info up and working.

For more info on this check out my posts on the Bolt Action Rifle Forum or the New Products Announcements Forum.

I have seen them in pictures.  The scope bases are integral to the receiver. All you have to do attach the rings to them.  Also, If you buy one now, you will have the option of buying a different caliber next year with the same serial number.  Kinda a first right of refusal thing.  Nice touch.

Only problem is my bank account, otherwise I think it would be a neat gun to have.

Who is the manufacturer? US or foreign?
« Reply #2 on: January 14, 2005, 05:57:36 AM »
I seriously doubt that Nosler would set up manufacturing for a quality rifle and offer 500 rifles on a 'One Time, first come fist serve' basis.  Sounds mor like Nosler is purchasing 500 'special-run' rifles and putting their name on them.  It will be interesting to find out who is the manufacturer.  Hopefully Nosler will keep the work here in the US.  Them seem to take pride in being an American company.

The rifles are not being manufactured in the Nosler factory by Nosler employees. They are contracted but just who is making them is a super secret piece of information not known to many and nope I'd not one who knows. Altho I do have a suspicion and if I'm right they are American made and by a true Custom maker.

The other day when I spoke to John R. Nosler he said they have sold about half of the total 500 already. Several of them as he put it to GBO members. They ask each buyer where they heard about them and "several" have said GBO according to John. So they seem to be selling well for a $4000 rifle.

For product evaluation.  It never ceases to amaze me how much quality gear is made right here in Oregon, including Nosler bullets, Leuopold scopes, Corbin Swaging, Uncle Mikes Sidekicks, etc....God bless them for not outsourcing,  and supporting Americans.

I was at the Nosler Pro Shop a while back and held one of these rifle's, nice rifle but spendy. Felt a bit to bulky in my hands. The salesman in the store told me they make them there, hard to believe as the building is no bibber than it used to be. He also said that their brass was made there, again hard to believe. He then told me the brass was like Norma brass. I wouldn't wnat to read anything into that. There are lot's of nice rifle's from about $2000 on up anymore. At $4000 the price seem's a bit high.

 We were talking about the new rifle at the gun shop today, one of the distributors who was there at the time said the Nosler rifle was made by BSA in England.  I don't know where he got his information.

I'd be willing to bet money that's bad info. I'm almost certain I know who makes them for Nosler and it's NOT BSA. If you'll look real closely at the rifle, especially how and where the caliber designation is and look around for someone else doing it that same way you'll come to the same conclusion as me as to who is making them. I'm aware of only ONE other rifle so marked for caliber and it is a full custom made in the USA.

I like what I've seen of the new Nosler rifle but am afraid they are just a trifle too expensive for my wallet.  Best wishes.

This year's run is almost completely sold out and they are delivering them at this time. Wonder what next year's chambering will be?
