Nosler New Product Introductions as of Sep. 15, 2004
« on: September 14, 2004, 07:01:15 PM »
OK guys and gals here is the info you've all been waiting for. Nosler is expanding like you ain't gonna believe.

1. Nosler Custom Ammunition:  http://www.noslerammunition.com/

Nosler is introducing a large line of Custom Crafted ammunition in a limited but long list of chamberings. See their new ammunition site for full details. This ammo is hand crafted. For many years Nosler has been making Custom Ammo for use in their product testing and to supply limited markets. Now it will become available to the general public. All of it is hand crafted not mass produced by automated machines.

I expect to be reviewing and testing this new ammo in .257 Whby. Magnum, .260 Remington and .35 Whelen in the near future.

2. New Accubond bullet introductions: Nosler is adding Accubond bullets in the following: .257" 115 grains. .308" 150 grains. 8MM 200 grains.

3. Nosler headstamped brass for reloaders will be available in the following: .223 Remington, .22-250, .243 Winchester, .270 Winchester, .308 Winchester, .30-06, 7MM Remington Magnum and .300 Winchester Magnum.

4. Nosler Custom Rifles. You read that correctly. Nosler has entered the Custom Rifle business.

These rifles will feature high grade Turkish Walnut stocks, custom made scope mounts, Wiseman #2 contour SS match grade barrels. They come with an accuracy guarantee of 1/2" at 100 yards using Nosler Custom Ammo. They are shipped with two boxes of Nosler Custom ammo and an air line approved metal hard case. Look for a price of $3995 on these.

Only 500 of these will be built each year. If you buy one during the first year of production you may reserve the same serial number 001-500 in each succeeding year. I was trying to write really fast when I took this note. I think only one caliber per year maybe? More details to follow when available.

5. Nosler Special Edition Reloading Guide #5.

6. Nosler Solid Base bullets are back.

7. On Line ordering directly from Nosler their entire full line of products.

8. New Reloading data on Nosler Bullets now available at the Ballistics Room at: http://www.nosler.com/ballisticroom.asp

Also see these other fine Nosler web sites:

1. Shooter's Pro Shop: http://www.shootersproshop.com/

2. Nosler Custom: I believe this one will be the Nosler Custom Rifle site but at this time is not yet operational. http://www.noslercustom.com/

I was not shocked by the Custom Ammunition and was expecting custom barrels to be truthful, but custom rifles will work, I am thrilled to see the .222 Rem Mag and the .257 Roberts on the list, but why is the .270win., 30'06, .280rem., 7mm08, 7mm Rem Mag,etc. not on the list on the site???? Is it just a mistake??? Are they really not adding these wonderful calibers??????
I understand if they just assume everyone already "knows" they will load the most popular cartridges, but not seeing them on the list somewhat worries me.
To be honest I was expecting scopes, knives, and saboted rifle/pistol bullets too.

Let me answer what I think I can of your questions. Perhaps our Nosler Representatives will find time to drop in soon to more fully respond.

As it was explained to me Nosler does not intend to compete with the various companies who are currently loading Nosler Bullets in their ammo. They also are not trying to duplicate all of the "standard" loadings so easily available in a long list of different brands at this time. Remember this is NOT mass produced ammo but Custom Hand Loaded Ammo just like you and I make when we sit down at our reloading benches except this is brand new ammo using all new Nosler brand products. Also please note that there is a marked difference in what will be available as Nosler headstamp brass for reloading and what Ammo will be loaded by them.

None of those you asked about will be available as loaded ammo.

Nope, quite the opposite. What they will load are those OTHER THAN the most popular cartridges. This may change with time but is the direction of their current effort.

To be honest I was expecting scopes, knives, and saboted rifle/pistol bullets too.

None of this has been revealed to me as in the plans for now.

Thanks for answering my questions as best as you could. To tell you the truth, I don't think Nosler can do any better, and they should be just as proud to sponsor this site as you/we are of them sponsoring.

I understand, and it does make sense. But I was looking forward to trying and then possibly filling my ammo safe full of Nosler loaded 7mm Remington Magnums. :(  Oh well, at least I get to look forward to shooting the .222 Mag more often!   Or get more money for it if I decide to sell it. :? Maybe buy me a .260rem or .257 wthby.

Did they "invent" their own action for the custom rifles or is it based on a "modified" current action? The case and ammo thrown in with the custom rifles is an extremely nice touch on Nosler's behalf. :agree:

Did they happen to mention custom barrels? I know they made a HUGE step with custom rifles, but as you know, there is an unlimited amount of poe folk, like me, that want a "true" shooting rifle without the used Toyota 4x4 price. :)

Stay Safe. Happy Hunting/Shooting. :D

At this time I just don't have the answer to your questions. I'm hoping one of the Nosler Representatives who have registered and will be watching this site will find time soon to log in and help with such questions. I'm sure if I had thought to ask I'd have gotten the answer but just failed to ask. I was told they are using Wiseman barrels at this time.

Some of the ammo is in stock now and ready for delivery. I'm sure you can place your order for a rifle now also. I suspect the new Accubond bullets are now in stock. When you'll see the stuff at your local dealer I'm not sure but remember it can all be bought online at the Nosler site.

I gave Nosler my word I'd not leak the info. So doing so wasn't an option.

Graybeard,

Say Boss.  The New Nosler Custom ammo looks good to me but as a user of the .416 Rigby round I was very glad to see it listed.  Only problem is when I clicked on the link it doesn't come up.  Is Nosler still working on the site?  Also is there going to be a MSRP list to go along with the cartridge list?  Lawdog :D

They do not yet have stocks of all the ammo loaded and ready to ship. They are working as hard as they can to get it all ready. They have a lot of work left to do on their website. It's going to take some time for them to get all of this done. It will come. I think that prices are up only for what is already in stock and ready to ship.

Wooo Hooo!  This is great news.  .260 Rem is my go to deer gun and not being a hand loader I've been looking for a cartridge a premium bullet for a while now.  I'll be ordering some of the 125 grain partitions soon and I'll let you all know how they shoot and, with a little luck how they perform on deer.

« Reply #17 on: October 06, 2004, 12:38:25 PM »
125 grain partitions perform very well on deer. The 260 is also my go to rifle for deer hunting. I moved up to the 260 when I started hunting in Georgia several years ago because of the dense woods. Prior to that I used a 243 with 95 grain partitions. I also use the 243 in Missouri because the woods are open in the area I hunt. Nosler makes an excellent product.
Recently I used their accubonds on the range in several rifles. They shoot as well as ballistic tips. Do not know how they do in the field but plan to find out this season.

I've finalized my .243 load for this year using the Nosler 95PT. I have a load with the 100 PT that is "almost" as accurate but this one is a consistent MOA and less load and those five grains aren't a biggie.

The Accubond line is expanding. I've already been made aware of the addition of a 110 .257" Accubond. That's as heavy as they could go due to bullet length according to John Nosler. I have some on the way to try in my .257 Whby. and I hope they are loading it in their ammo also as I'd like to give it a try. Should be a real winner on pronghorn. I believe John told me the BC is .420 on this one.

I went into the Nosler store on Bend last month to get some bullet's and while there saw some of the new cases. They claim there about like Norma cases. Then ran into a couple guy's that work for Nosler and was told that Nosler doesn't make the cases, Norma does. Wouldn't matter either way. I used to use Norma cases years ago and I like them.

Also while I was there, I got to see one of the new rifle's. Beautiful rifle but no way could I afford one. If you have the money you'll like the way these look and feel. Likely they'll shoot well too.

There was a recent article on the Nosler rifles.  I'm not much of a wood/blued fan, but those guns looked sweeeeet.  I was really impressed with how the bases are actually an intregal part of the receiver and all you have to do is use the quick detachable rings, which come with the gun as well as a Leupold LPS scope.

The gun is kinda pricey, but then again it's a custom gun.  Still, I don't like the fact that you are kinda forced in getting an LPS scope on the gun.  I'd rather the gun came without the scope, but then again that's just me.

I know that they are a numbered series of 400 or 500 or so.  Does anybody know how the sales are going?  Does anybody have one to comment upon?

The last time I spoke with John Nosler about them (perhaps a month ago) I think about half of them had been sold. While he gave no specific number of them he said a significant number had been sold thru folks finding out abot them at GBO. I've not seen one for a couple of reasons. First is that it's a magnum and I really don't do magnums. Second it is after all a VERY expensive rifle and I hate to ask for something of that value knowing I'd not buy it after the review. Combined they've kept me from asking for a review sample.

Well, given that quite a few of them were sold to GBO members, we can just wait to here their own experiences.

I know that you don't like (or actually need) magnums, and I don't disagree with you, but knowing that you don't like (or similarly don't need) big scopes with huge objectives like the LPS, I'm sure that must be another good reason for you to not buy one.

Do you know if Nosler will sell their guns without scopes in the future?

Nope Zach I really don't. Just call and ask. You might twist their arm to sell one without the scope. Dunno. If I can ever reach John again I'll ask. He has been out of the office now for nearly a month. Since before S.H.O.T. and I can't seem to make contact.
