Loads for .243

What weight bullets have you .243 shooters had the best accuracy with? Has anyone had deer hunting success with any bullet lighter than 100grains?

Thanks, Tac.............. :sniper:

I never have, but many have posted great success with 85gr BTHP bullets.  Seems kinda light to me though.  Shot placement would have to be perfect.

My 243 hates 100 grain stuff, all rounds key hole. Tried Win 80 grain varmit stuff and got 3 round groups at 110 yards with all rounds touching. I am trying to load Sierra 85 grain rounds with IMR 4831 to try to get the same results.
 Good luck.

I'll be trying the Speer 85gr bt (I found them in the bargin bin for cheap 98 of 100) it is supposed to be a big game bullet but probably just use it to fill my doe tags, I have a mulie buck tag this year but I'll will most likely use my 338 for that.

BTW has anyone used the speer 85gr BT before if yes how did it do.

Tac I sent you data for some 100 grain loads that were acceptable. But the 85 grain loads were no pun intended tac drivers

For me, 44 grns H-414 with the Hornady 75 rn HP gives close to 1/2 MOA.  Thats with my rifle, but do your own workup.

My absolute best ever groups have come with Hornady Custom 75HP factory ammo. Only barely over 1/4" outside to outside. Forgot the specifics but I think it was 0.09" CTC as best as I could measure. That is in my Browning LW. This gun shoots most 58-90 grain bullets into 0.4" to 0.8" groups at 100. It fairly loves Nosler 90 BTs.

Only deer I've shot was with a Hornady Custom factory load with 100 grain bullet which shoots fair but not great. Usually around an inch. This year I'll be using Nosler 95 PTs over AA MagPro.
