I have a Bushmaster flat-top version in 223 with a 20" heavy barrel. I would like to buy a different upper receiver to hunt deer with. I have read a few articles about the 6.5 Grendel and the 6.8 Remington SPC. The 6.8 SPC has impressed me, at least as far as a magazine article can go.

Does anyone have experience with this 6.8 SPC or the 6.5 Grendel?? I have the $$ burning a hole in my pocket, need to buy an upper before I spend it on something ridiculous like bills. :grin:

Nobody has opinion on buying an upper for deer hunting?? I find this hard to believe. I would have thought that somebody would have responded to this by now.

Good luck finding 6.8mm Rem ammo. I was interested in it also and gave up the idea since I don't reload anymore.

The .50 Beowulf would certainly do the job :shock: --splat--

If you want to buy an upper in another caliber for deer hunting, go with the 762x39. Ballistically about like the 30-30. Ammo is cheap and available. Personally, I'd prefer to spend the money on a good .308 bolt gun. If you just have to have an exotic upper for your AR, I'd go with the .50!
