i have come into the possession of a nice 308 mauser and this after noon i decided to take it with me while doing some last minuet deer scouting. well it also happens to be squirrel (squirrel) season. i haven't started handloading this one yet so i had 150gn. rem. corlks (yup you guest it green box ammo). anyway there i was out at the tree line and there was this big gray squirrel on the side of a tree ( a big tree not a chance of it going though besides the squirrel was chest high any way) so i put the crosshiar on him and squeezed the trigger. and down he went . i didn't save the tail (like some one else) but i got him soaking in the refrigerator right now  . i just had to share this with you guys  it made me die laughing when i stop and realized how many thing i did just like ..........yeah that guy.
curiosity killed the cat , but i was lead suspect for a while

Just be careful what sort of trees you're sticking bullets in. I used to plink in the woods a lot when I was a teen. Several years ago, my  father traded some cherry trees for cherry lumber. The guy gave Dad the notch he cut when he felled a nice tree, he'd sawn right through the center of a .22LR solid buried in the heartwood.. Good thing it was down near the ground, they don't like finding hunks of metal in the middle of an otherwise good board.

Dad just sold a big batch of mixed trees, including some beech, which I shot a lot of as a kid. Oops, I wonder what they'll find at the sawmill next winter. At least 22LR bullets don't ruin sawblades like nails do.
