Just got 2 new CZ-527's
« on: September 03, 2004, 04:23:28 AM »
Got two new CZ-527 rifles. I couldn't decide what caliber to get so I got my two favorites, 22 Hornet & 221 Fireball. I'll keep one and sell the other. They have a nicely checkered free floated walnut stock. These are truely sweet. I especially like the set trigger. They are a mini mauser action with a claw extractor to control the round during feeding. I won't shoot them until I sell one. Then I keep the other.

It really doesn't matter which I keep I love them both equally. I'll sell one at the range and keep the other. I'll probably end up with the Hornet because the Fireball has slightly fancier wood. Hell I just might sell them both and buy another.

P.S. I'm an FFL. :D

I believe so. That needs a bigger  bolt face. Probably a CZ-550.
JM

P.S. I just checked on it (CZ-550) and the answer is YES! They also sell it in 7x57.

Bgjohn, I have a CZ 527 in 7.62x39 and cannot speak too highly of it. I'm primarily a cast bullet shooter and this is the best cast bullet rifle I have ever laid hands on. What little hunting I do is woods hunting for eastern whitetail and the 7.62x39 is plenty of cartridge for that.

The rifle came with a test target showing a 5 shot 3/8" group at 100 meters. I can't get an answer from CZ as to what ammo they used, but I was not really planning on using jacket bullets, anyway. I am getting 5/8" 50 yard groups with casually assembled cast loads and am delighted at that.
It is the duty of the good citizen to love his country and hate his gubmint.

Gentlemen before you purchase any 6.5-55 take a look at the T-3.  I have one and it is a bonefide tack driver!  140 gr. even with factory.  I am going to get some 85 sierra's and let the yote smackin' begin.  Buckfever

I have the 527 hornet, what a great rifle, tack driver!

so so with Lil Gun (3/4" ~ 1" groups)

great with W296. (.4 ~ .75" groups)

fantastic with H4227 (1/3" groups)

likes 40 / 35 grain vmax (1/3" with 35 grain @ factory COl )

likes 45 gr hornady hornet, particularly W296 @ factory COL.

good luck.
