Revisions to Savage Accu-Trigger?

Savage's accu-trigger used to be adjustable, if I remember correctly, from 1.5 pounds to 6 pounds.  However, I just read a new article that said they are adjustable from 2.5 pounds to 6 pounds.  

I wonder what happened to cause Savage to raise the minimum trigger pull from 1.5 to 2.5 pounds.  Granted, I think that 1.5 is too light for hunting, but then again, to each his own and I respect that.  Still, what happened here?

Anybody here own a Savage with the 1.5 pound min. pull?  Any problems?

I personaly feel that 1.5 is WAY to light for hunting and its an accident waiting to happen..Now I do know most of us experianced hunters there would most likely not be a problem with it..But to fairly new hunters its not good at all...And you know kids these days...Think they know all about everything... I believe thats why they raised it anyway...Basicly a safety issue...Hair triggers are a lil on the dangerous side for rookies..Dems my thoughts on that..Bout the only thing I could think of as to why they would

There's a good chance the change is in writing only.  If Savage says it's adjustable from 1.5 to 6 and somebody has a ND with a 1.5# trigger, they could try to blame it on Savage.   If they state it goes from 2.5 to 6 (even if they haven't changed the hardware) then if someone accidentally sets it off at 1.5 then they can just claim that the person adjusted the weapon to an out of spec range.  I'd agree on the 1.5# pull for hunting (I use a 3# pull when hunting), but then again there are some shooters who wouldn't be using it to hunt.

I usded my 2003 Model 12 in 300 WSM to take to bison in April with the Accutrigger at min trigger weight.  I have not put a scale on it but it is an early Accutrigger.  Since the Accutrigger works like a two stage trigger, I think it is fine to hunt with at the low weight.  If it were a single stage, I would want it heavier.

The varmit/tactical rifles are adjustable from 1.5# to 6 #.

The sporter/hunting rifles are adjustable from 2.5# to 6#.

Myself personally, I would not go below 2.5lbs for my shooting.  I don't like the feeling of that rifle, just waiting to go off at the slightest notice. :shock:   Also, there is a guy I know who comes to the shooting range, who has a Sharps in 45-70, with two triggers.  When you pull the back one first it releases something, and it takes only 2lbs or so to fire after that.  Geez, it feels like only a feather would be heavy enough to fire it!  I would like the gun to fire only AFTER I put enough pressure on the trigger and still feel I'm in control of ignition.  Just my opinion. :D     Patriot

Nope, no problems with my 12FV set at 1.5 lbs. If there have been any problems, my guess is that one or both of the cardinal rules of firearms handling were violated.

After having put up with pulls of 6 to 8 lbs on my bolt rifles, even after considerable polishing and stoning by me I finally put Timney and Bold triggers on all of them.  I think I like the Timney best.  Wish I had done it years ago.  It cut my groups just about in half.  I think I have them set in the 2 lb range now.  Maybe less.  Soooooo very nice, just like breaking a small glass rod.  But maybe not so very good for general hunting.  I mostly bench shoot so the lighter the better for me.  I have a NEF handi 223 Ultra Varm. that breaks at 4 lbs and it seems like a ton now.
