Whitworth Mauser ?
« on: August 27, 2004, 01:25:59 PM »
I've found a Whitworth Mauser in .375 H&H and it is in good shape. The guy priced it to me for $350.00. Are they good rifles and is that a good price? Any info would be appreciated.

$350?!?!  RUN, don't walk, RUN to the ATM and BUY it.  Look on Auction Arms, Guns America, or GunBroker and you'll see that they go for double what he wants for it.  These are good solid guns.  Do a google search for .375 and you'll find a site where they compare .375s (I'd post it but can't find it). Short of finding an original FN somewhere, these are supposed to be pretty good.  Good luck!

Last one I heard of was $750. I bought one a couple years ago that was in a hideous thumbhole stock, and the previous owner had ruined the barrel (in my opinoin) by re-chambering for 375 Weatherby. I bought it for around $400 realizing Iwas going to spend a couple hundred to get it right. Never thought twice aboutit, sold the weird stock, found a factory walnut stock (nicely checkered and in classic style) and had it re-barreled.  So,....after about $700 I'm pretty happy with it

If you don'y buy it let me know and I'll buy it.
