.22 Reed Express barrels for the CZ-52
« on: August 24, 2004, 12:19:29 PM »
We just found a contract provider that will be building the barrels. The
standard barrel is all we intend on doing for the CZ-52, we could have a
longer barrel made, but that would have to be done on a hand lathe and the cost would skyrocket to about 600.00. We are also about to finalize a
contract for 10" barrels for the Thompson Center Contender, so that might be a route you can go. I do not know the price yet on the T/C barrels, but the CZ-52 barrels are looking to run about 210.00 and should be ready in about 1 month.

We would like for everyone that is interested to go ahead and secure an order with us. Payment will not be due until they arrive, but we'd like to know how many we need to hold for everyone.

Could you please post some info about this round? I visited your website but couldn't find any mention of it aside from anouncing the CZ-52 barrels.  Thanks.

The .22 Reed Express has it's own page. here: http://www.reedsammo.com/Research.html
It's not by any means all-inclusive; I didn't want to give too much away in the case that we had to change the specs. It will be up-dated shortly.
It is a 7.62x25 necked down to .22 caliber, with the shoulder blown forward. It equals and surpasses the .22 Hornet in performance, but with better accuracy, and easier loading. The Hornet is very accurate, but it tends to be very picky on what it wants to shoot well. The .22 Reed is not by any means picky and tolerates a wide variety of bullets and powder loaded to a wide range of velocities. Load data will be available in the form of binder pages, for now all we will release is starting data, so the hand loader can develop his loads for his need. We will be offering loaded ammunition as well.

This is pretty ironic.  I am getting my C&R (hopefuly very soon   ,) and had thought about getting a CZ52 and dedicating it strictly for coyote hunting.  Now it looks like there is an even BETTER caliber option.  Is this going to be a one time production run or are you going to be offering it as a permanent product.  I ask only because I dont have the gun yet (no C&R yet,) and Im not sure exactly when Ill be able to scratch together the cash.

I'm hoping our total production will be about 500 barrels. We're looking at adding it to other platforms as well, mainly the 1911. But that is in the future. Basically it will depend on how well it sells.

Update on the .22 Reed Express barrels

For those of you who have been following along, the first lot of barrels was ruined by the heat-treaters. We finally settled with them ove the issue and have more barrels under production. So we should have them soon. Bullberry is also making us some barrels for the T/C Contender.

Mikey,

We don't have any plans as of yet to make them for the Tok. I've had a few requests, but that's about it.
