i' live way out in maryland where northern strian bass roam...and ponds are abundant. Up the road about 2 miles are two ponds, one is big ...about 6 acres the other is small, about 1/2 acre. Well for the past few years we never fished it. Then we got around to it through a friend i met in school. Well we tried the big pond because the kid said there was not much other than bluegill in the small pond. Well the big pond was slow but some days it produced a ton of small largemouth. Every once and a while you could catch a big one. Well last summer i pulled a 6 lber and a 6.5 lber out of it.
Well this summer it was covered in unfishable  algea. So Me, my dad, and my 2 brothers decide to try the small pond just too see. Well we fished ot for and hour with no luck and my bros were starting to complain. Just then i nailed a 4 pounder. Ever since then On each trip we would catch a 4lb+ bass at the end of the day when most people would be leaving from boredome. The past 7 times have produces 7 fish 4+lbs!!!!1 thats nice for maryland!
i'm going there tonight to try my luck!
sorry for the big read
Ben

One of the workers at the plant has given me permission to fish a 11 acre pond he has on his farm.  The first cast on this pond produced a nice 2 lb. bass.  Second cast 1 about 11 inches long.  Almost every cast got at least a strike but all the fish seemed to be in the 12 inch(+/-) range except for that first one.  The pond is just loaded with Mississippi Silverside minnows.  I keep telling the guy he needs to thin out some of the bass so the others could get some size to them but no action yet on his part.  Lawdog

yeah...i'm gonna thin out a pond in fredrick that produced an 8 pounder  for me. O yeah.......i also saw a monster 10 pounder eat a 2 pounder i was realing in... that was breathtaking.

To get bigger bass:
use big swimbaits (castiac 6 inch slow sinking works good in shallow water)
use big plugs like the ms slammer and the a.c. plug

basically use big baits

when i go trophy hunting for bass I use:
shimano cardiff 3000
7 ft 9 extra heavy diawa heartland swimbait special
20 lb-25lb triline big game with 25lb seaguar florocarbon leader
big lures

this is a great setup for throwing the bass imitating lures
