Kimber 84?
« on: August 22, 2004, 03:04:22 AM »
Other than "pride of ownership" are these guns worth the high price they demand? Can they out shoot a Savage @ 100 yards.

I am looking for something in a 243 and the local gun shop have the Kimber. It is nice looking but $800 is pretty steep.

Any recommendations?

I have a new Kimber 84M in 308 caliber. It is my favorite rifle. The quality of the rifle far exceeds anything else in the price range and well beyond. When you buy these rifles there is nothing to do but shoot it. It is the most accurate rifle I have owned with the exception of a Shilen.-----All factory rifles are so accurate now that I expect them all to shoot well. However If I had to bet on the accuracy of factory rifles from Weatherby price down I would bet on the Kimber. I like nice quality rifles and the Kimber is that. I did not buy it because I thought it might shoot 1/16 or 1/8 inch smaller groups than some other rifle. I think the Savage and the Howa 1500 will shoot with most rifles. If accuracy is the only consideration, I do not think any factory rifle would be worth three or four hundred dollars more than these two rifles.--------vernonp
