Hi, Taurus makes a 32 magnum revolver, how do you feel about this firearm compared to the .32 acp pistol? Also, which round you think is better for home defense? What length barrel is suggested 2 inch snub nose or 4 or 5 inches?

The .32 Magnum is a VERY MUCH superior round to the .32 acp.

BUT be cautious. Be VERY CAUTIOUS of any Taurus revolver. Don't plunk your money down until you've looked it over VERY carefully and make sure it is OK as far as you can in the store BEFORE you pay your money. Way too many of them are getting out of the factory that are pure junk and their customer service of late seems nearly as bad as the quality. If you find a good one you've realy got a jewel but be aware of the problems as well. Read the threads on that subject on this forum so you'll know what to look for.

Howdy. Ruger also makes a .32 Mag with either a 3 or 4 inch barrel; these guns are stout, but reliable. And, dare I say S&W makes a couple 2 inchers. Any of which probably don't have the, ahem, current difficulties with which Taurus seems to be plagued.

I have two Taurus .32 mags. One is a ported stainless 6 shot with a 2 inch barrel. The other is a target gun. It was orgionaly chambered for the .32 S&W Long it looks like they just bored the chambers longer and added .32 H&R Mag. on the barell. I have never had any complaints out of them but they are over 10 years old. The target gun is built on a frame simular to a S&W K frame. Lots of steel around those holes in the cylinders. It's a real shooter also.
I wish Ruger would reintroduce the Bisley .32Mag. :cry:

I am not sure where I stand with Taurus, having never an occasion to talk to there C/S. I kept 2 guns from Taurus a 44 sp 2", and a 32 mag @2". These are guns wife and I carry in our vehicles. I got rid of all the other Taurus I owned, not because I had a problem, its I was not happy with the quality of the finish, and the lack of satisfaction I have noted on this board from there C/S.

I had a 2" Taurus 731 .32 Mag. The factory cheerfully stood behind their warranty twice. But I'm against ports in a close quarters weapon; they can cause bad damage to yourself or a close friendly. I also wanted more barrel length for better velocity in the small .32 caliber.

So now I have a 3" Ruger SP-101 .32 mag. Added Wolff springs and I'm very happy with it. I consider it far superior to the Taurus (or even S&W's .32 mag). If I had to use a .32 for self defense, it would be my choice.
