alaska prospecting tips

am relocating to Alaska   in May..  any suggetions or hints..how open is the land now???how itchy are the oldtimers if u stumble on them???
wife wants to try I tried 20 yrs ago had some fun was a life member of Gpoa.. have not done much in past yrs..

There is a book out: "How to Prospect in Alaska Without Getting Shot."  

I bought it and still use it because it covers all the roadways and where to prospect without any hastles.

Also there is the Alaska Mining and Diving web page.

Lots of information there.  

Tom and Perry Massie run the Cripple River Mining Camp out of Nome.

Do an internet search: gold + Alaska and see what you find.  Lot of reading.
