I shot my new pt140 and notice that it does not lock up all the way when fired. I can push in on the slide with very little force and it will lock up and then fire. don't give me the limp wrist routine. that is not it. I did notice that the spring on the barrel is different then my pt111. the small spring on the rod well expand and come apart. this one only moves inward towards the front. I think this is the problem child. it appears to have no ridges or bind marks anywhere. everything seems to be right. had plenty of lube on the rails and all. have any of you seen this problem on the pt140 before

No experience with the PT140, but I have a PT145 Millenium that has been 100% reliable in all aspects. Mine has dual springs, but they are not captive like the Pro Series. Good luck getting it running.

stolivar,
I have no experience with the Taurus autos, but decades of experience with autos. In my experience, four things will prevent autos from going into battery durring cycling:
Dirty chamber
Out of spec ammo
Weak recoil springs
Excessive friction
Address these issues, and I bet your problem goes away.

I can take the recoil spring and barely touch it and it comes off the barrel. on my other guns the spring wants to go off into space. this one seems to be captive, and will not come apart. seems a little week to my liking

You might want to check with Wolff for availability of one of their extra power recoil springs. If they are not available for your gun you might have to order one from Taurus. Good luck!

finally got my pt140 back from taurus. Still did the same thing, would not go into battery. So I took her home got out the jb paste and did a fluf and buff of the rails. then took some slick 50 grease and lubed her up. low and behold it is one shooting pistol now.
