Big honkin' eel in L. Superior

Hi people.  Several years ago, local news showed film of a fresh-water eel that lived in Lake Superior that had come to shore.  Nothing unusual with that except that the bloody thing was 13-14 feet long!

Definitly a creepy image, to be sure.

I was wondering if anyone, maybe one of the Yoopers out there, had a web site link to pictures of the beastie.  I'm sure it would be called the Lake Superior Sea Serpent or somesuch.

Biologists said that when an eel doesn't sexually mature (anadramous is the word, I believe), all its energy goes into growing big, like some salmon do.

Research the American eels, Michbob.  They don't breed in our fresh water.  They come from the Sargasso Sea and migrate up streams and underground waterways to reach our lakes, rivers, springs and ponds.  They then return, when they reach adulthood, to the Sargasso Sea to complete their life cycle.  Their "slipperyness" enables them to navigate the tight spots in the underground streams.

My favorite eel is the Clinton Eel. :-D

Good point.  You forget, however, the @*&#%*^ Sea Lamprey, which has graced our beloved Great Lakes for so long now.  They spawn in the tributary steams feeding into the Lakes.  Plus the Wheland (sp?) Canal, which circumvents the Niagra Falls, etc.  Can't recall the exact details, but the image wasn't pretty.
