Taurus PT-92 Magazines Interchange with Berretta?
« on: August 07, 2004, 10:55:51 AM »
Hi guys,

I just bought a PT-92 and was wondering if Beretta magazines will interchange with the Taurus? I have several Mec-Gar mags on the way, but I know for a source of reasonabley priced used Italian Beretta mags locally. Any input would be appreciated. Any comments on the quality of the Taurus PT-92 or any quirks the pistol may have would also be appreciated. Thanks!

Nope, they won't work. The mag release in in a slightly differnet spot. Years ago I read that you could modify either the Beretta mags to work in the Taurus, or Taurus mags to work in the Beretta, but I don't rembmer which way.

I've had a PT 92 for somewhere around 15 years now, 5,000+ rounds through it without a single problem that wasn't ammo related. By that I mean there were some handloads a friend made up that wouldn't chamber, and with some 160gr IMI ammo the slide wouldn't lock open on the last round. Those are the only problems I've had with mine.

Taurus-Beretta mags

Beretta mags can be modified to fit the Taurus by opening the slot up,but it must be an equal amount above and below the existing slot and extending to about 75% into the Beretta slot. This way one mag fits both.I modified some to use at the range for fun,but I don't use them in my carry gun(M96).If you look at the 30 rd mags on the market you will probably see what I am talking about as most have the modified slot to fit either gun.As far as I know the slot on the Taurus mag can be modified to fit the Beretta, but if you have to pay someone to modify either,it would be cheaper to buy new mags.
