Exotics/3 weeks
« on: August 04, 2004, 11:14:08 AM »
Just have to get a little jump on deer season so am headed to Sweet Water Creek Bowhunting in North Texas for some hogs & exotic hunting.  meetin with a group of my friends from out East, mainly Maryland.
Being from the Midwest-Ill. & Iowa I don't stray far from home during deer season but I sure like the change b/4 & after deer season.  Good luck to all this year.  Our Whitetail action starts Oct. 1st & is REAL GOOD the 1st 2 weeks of Nov. for those big boys.

Good luck on your Texas trip and during your upcoming deer season.  It is hotter than hades here in Texas right now, but deer season begins for archers in early Oct here as well.  I will be tuning up my bow this weekend.

This will be the start of our 2nd Exotic/Hog Bowhunting Video.  the 1st (2 years in making) will hopefully be released around Christmas.
Good luck Marcc in your Bowhunting this year.
It's pretty hot here too but not like Texas.

did you make it back from your Texas trip?  How did you do?  I jsut got my old PSE updated a bit and will be sighting in this weekend.  Already got the new main bow stand up and ready.   Can't wait.  Saw a buffalo archery hunt listed for $800.00 at the recent hunters extravaganza in Houston.  Sounded interesting.

I Bowhunted Buffalo last March @ Sweet Water Creek Bowhunting Ranch & it was a great hunt but pretty tough on an ol guy like me.  Lots of busted stalks, walking, runnin, crawlin.  I was done in at the end of the 2nd day & had told the guide I was going to have to take the next day off when we spotted some.  My buddie & I got Waaaayyyy around them , set up about 150 yards apart & waited.  They finally showed up (this time) & we both managed getting a shot & kill.  I got a est. 900# cow & my buddy took a very nice est. 1200# Bull.  We are booked for next March again but IF my son can go-I will film him trying for one.  I have a Exotic/Hog video going to duplication in 2 weeks for a mid Nov. release & the Buffalo Hunt is on this.  the cost was $800 & more than worth the fun time & the meat is delicious.

that sounds like the archery buffalo hunt my wife and I checked into at the Houston hunting show a couple weeks back.  She wants to save up and have me go.  Will see what happens.  Good luck on your trip, look 4ward to reading your report when you return.

Back & another excellent hunt at sweet water creek. The animals did not come to the corn as nuts, plumbs & greenery was everywhere. I arrowed a nice Fallow Buck & the other hunters took a very good Blackbuck, 1 5x5 Red Deer, 1 white Fallow buck & 2 nice Hogs.  One hunter turned down 15 yard shot at Aoudads the 1st day of the hunt as he wanted to try for an Axis.  As Bowhunting goes-misses are always a part of the game- 2 very good Axis bucks were missed, a 4x4 Red Deer, 2 Rams (they were everywhere) & 3 hogs.  Everyone saw some great looking animals-just not always in bow range.  Whitetail Bucks seemed to be around everyones stand b/4 the hunt was over.  It was especially a fun time with old friends & a jolly bunch of Bowhunters.  Now it's Whitetail time in about 2 weeks.  good luck to all.
