Thinking of applying.....
« on: July 31, 2004, 02:54:35 AM »
Im thinking of applying for a C&R liscence and looking for a few answers I hope you holders can give me.  I found a C&R Bulletin Board site, but had some troubles with the server, so I couldnt register.  So I figgure Ill ask the great GBO folks instead.

Question 1:  I was reading about a bound book to keep records in, is this book provided by the BATFE?  If not where do you get one?  I probably wont be selling anything (except maybe to my Uncle and good friend, but Im aware that those will still need to be logged, yes,) so do I still need to record what I take into my posetion?

Question 2:  How are guns normaly shipped?  Via what carrier I mean.  And, does that carrier require MY signature, or just that of an adult?  Im asking this because, like most of you, I work during the day when most deliverys are made.  Id preffere to have the guns appear at my doorstep rather than have to go and pick it up at a shippers depot.  My mother and/or sister are home most of the day and could sign for it.

I might have a few more, so this will be fine for now.  Ive printed the paperwork and and am pretty sure Im gonna make the plunge.
Thanks,
Brian M.

No, the BATF does not supply the book...you should be able to find something suitable at your local gunstore.

Most shippers use UPS but some use USPS...adult signature is required...anyone at your residence over the age of 21 can sign for it...(family member preferably)

You will not regret it. As to the bound book here is a link to Brownells Gunsmithing Supplies.
http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=1694

After you get your license, send them a copy and you will get a 20% or so discount on most of the items they sell.

Good luck.

I got my Bound Book pages free from the National Shooting Sports Foundation in Conn. They are the same ones some dealers use. Nice people.
I've received handguns at my house by UPS and Fedex. One dealer also shipped me one by Parcel Post. They usually require an adult signature, unless you live in the country as I do and know the driver.
