Vaqueo Strenght ?
« on: July 29, 2004, 06:16:47 PM »
I figure this would be a good forum to ask about the strenght of the
Bisley Vaquero .45 Colt or .44 Mag. 5.5" barrel.
I like the looks and feel of the Vaquero and I am thinking of purchasing one.
My Question is can it handle hot loads like the SBH. as I would like to use it for hunting as well as plinking.
Also what would be your preferance of caliber be.
Deer, hog and bear hunting.

With the exception of the sights, the Vaquero, BH and SBh are all the same frame and use the same cylinder (size).  One is just as strong as the other and that's mighty strong.

I have a Vacquero in 45LC for my carry gun.  With the hot load, I would not be afraid to tackle the animals mentioned out to about 75 yards.  I can keep a shotgun shell size box skipping out the far pretty consistently.  Beyond that, you begin having sight problems.

I have a Super Blackhawk in 44 Mag for a hunting gun if hunting.  I am not afraid to shoot out past 150 with it.  My loads, and my practice at silhouette allows me to go this far.  Starting to get to max distance for load though.

Good luck and enjoy your choice.
