Indian Trade Gun....62 Cal
« on: July 28, 2004, 04:54:37 PM »
   I managed to get a surprise yesterday in shooting a smoothbore that I had not shot prior.  I had purachased an Indian Trade Gun.62 cal. about a year ago.  I do have a couple of .62 but they are not of this type.  I got the itch kinda bad yesterday so I dragged a target out and put it at a measured 25 yards.  This is a flinter so I did check the flint and made sure everything was fitting properly as it was just out of the box.  I started out with a load of 60 of 3f Swiss with a handcast(Dixie .610 mold,it actually mics at .603).  I used a .20 pillow ticking patch with Neeetsfoot oil as a patch lube.  After a couple of shots I decided to see just how small  group I could make with this thingie.  I actually got a 1 inch at 25 yards.  To make it even better a friend was over and he stated prior to shooting that I would be lucky to keep em on the paper.  I did this twice in a row.  I am a very happy guy with this trade gun.  Now I am going to attempt shot in it and see what type of pattern I get.  Stay safe.....King   Hopefully I can see what the Bess can do with a little time
