howdy all!

i like the mecan, willow, timber coolie, little wolf, tomorrow and black earth in wisconsin.

 the au sable in michigan.

the gibbon, madison and firehole  around yellowstone.

 the gunnison of colorado.

my favorite i just ran across this past september. the south platte and the encampment of wyoming. there is some really great fishing there!

i have fished in lots of places in washington and oregon but the rules in those states make a non resident scared to put a hook in the water. lots of branches of given rivers that are closed and a non res. is going to be wondering if he is standing in one of them!

                                                luck!

We live about 50 miles from the Russian/Kenai rivers, nothing like hooking into a 30"+ rainbow!!  Yeah, I know, we're spoiled.  Live about 300 yards from the ocean... go and catch salmon all the time from the beach.

To be honest, I don't think I have a favorite stream.  Growing up in northern Michigan, working in a flyshop in Idaho, and then working for an airline has allowed me to fish in as many different places as the rich folk.  Here's some of my favorite streams:

Pere Marquette River in Michigan: my original "homewaters" great fishing for big browns during the hex hatch.

Silver Creek, Idaho: Amazing fishing during the brown drake hatch

Green River, Utah: Sept. fishing on a rainy day is superb!  The rain drives all the yuppy idiots off the water and the blue winged olive hatch really makes the fish easy to catch.

Humptulips River, Oregon:  October will show you the biggest silver salmon you've ever seen.  Really easy to sightfish to fresh runs when using a single egg pattern.

Stave River, British Columbia:  October has a killer Chum salmon run.  Since it is C&R, you got it to yourself and it takes 1/2 an hour to land each one!

Mousum(sp?) River, Maine:  Stipers(schoolies) on a 4wt. is a BLAST!

There is a little trickle chock full of yellow and white belly brookies. Tons of 3 -6" fish, and a fair amount of keepers, although I have not seen one
over 13". It winds through a temperate rain forest, where copperheads, and eastern diamondbacks are common. The cobblestones of the Grand Army of the Republic Highway, and musket furnace run adjacent to the brook. It's name is famous, but I am afraid to call attention, for it lies unbelievably, within a 50 minute drive from Yankee Stadium. Who would believe it?
