Swift scopes
« on: July 23, 2004, 05:16:47 PM »
Guys, I have no experience with the Swift brand of scopes. But did look through a couple of them at a gun shop and they were very clear and the price was very reasonable for a scope to mount on a 357 or 44 mag Handi.
Any thoughts about these scopes????? Anyone??????

Choose from the Premier line and you won't be disappointed, they are one of the sleeper good buys on the market! The 676 4-12x40 is one of my favorites.

I just bought two 4-12X40 AO Swift Premier scopes.

I haven't actually shot with them yet, but I'm headed to the range today.  It's very cloudy and rainy today, so it should be a good test for them.

I put one on a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight in 300WSM, and the other one is going on a Winny Coyote in .308.

I will post the results when I get back.

Email or PM me with what you are looking for in a Swift scope. I'll match E.A. Brown's prices and eat the shipping. I'm not in the business, but I got a good selection of new Swift scopes in with a batch of other stuff.

Funny part is that I bought two 676s from Brown just before I got this other stuff.

I shot the Swift that I got from DJ yesterday.  Mounted it on my Winchester.

It was raining on and off, sometimes pretty hard.  Very overcast.  We compared it side by side with a Leupold, and couldn't see much difference.  The main difference that I could see was in the eye relief.  The Swift had a little less relief than the Leupold.

Seems like a great scope so far.  I can't wait to use it in a hunting situation.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond.

WLSCOTT thanks for the range report even though it rained in the panhandle of Oklahoma!!!!! Thats unusual and I know that it was probably needed very badly.

DJ I will give your offer serious thought I have a gulf trip planned and will have to wait until I get back to see about the money situation

Thanks  Wes

I have twice now and got Great service and cheaper prices than any other place I've found that sells the Swift scopes......they have quite the inventory for a camera supply outlet. But my question was.... do you have one in matte? You would have the better deal matching Browns price even though they are higher than Digital in that your not charging for shipping.

I've dealt with digitalfoto once and will never deal with them again.  I was charged for a premier series scope and they shipped a standard grade scope.  They will not correct the problem and told me if I want to exchange it I will have to pay to ship it back and pay a restocking fee.  This was obviously a mistake on their part and they expect me to pay for it.  Talk about customer service.  They don't even have the curtesy to reply to my emails inquiring about the mistake.  They'll be happy to take your $$ and they ship fast but if they make a mistake its your fault???  I'd rather pay $5-10 more and deal with professionals.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune oneshotonekill. That does sound pretty crappy. Guess I've been lucky......  I'll keep going for the best price though....well untill I get shafted anyway... :? The price of shipping also comes into play when shopping on line. I ordered a tactical Latch for the charging handle on a AR-15 from Midway...a small part about the weight of a quarter maybe lighter. Good price...about 17 bucks! They added a 3 dollar handling charge to it and the shipping was 8 dollars and 25 cents!!!!!!  All of a sudden...not a good price!!!!  Could have thrown it in an envelope for 37 cents!! Dang!  Watch um!!

You've got to watch Midway, the shipping defaults to UPS, I wish it would default to the lowest cost method. They backordered a plastic T/C B/P priming tool for me. The order was over $25, so I didn't get the small order handling fee on the $5 piece of plastic, but UPS on it would have been over $7. I selected first class mail and paid something like $1.20 for shipping on the primer holder. If I wanted a $17 part, I'd probably buy a pair of rings or something to get the order over $25, and check the postal rates.

Duhhhh...I forgot you could change carriers...thanks for the wakeup on that Mitch! I'm sure alot of people forget to check other methods...they just accept what is automatically thrown up on the shopping cart for shipping.....I'm still going to pass on that deal though...
