Prayer Request
« on: July 01, 2004, 01:41:16 PM »
Hi All,

If any of you could find the time to say a prayer for me I would appreciate it.
I'm going through a troubling time in my life, I have a lot of question but few answers.
Some problems of my own making for the most part.
It would be a bit of comfort knowing someone would add me to their prayer list, to help me get past this "speed bump".

Thanks
Karl

Karl,

I am not unfamiliar with your struggle. Remember, you can not change the past but can decide for the present which will make a difference in your future.  God has things for us to learn, the problem is we tend to pay attention the best in hard times.  You are in my prayers.

1) I am standing with you in this need.
2)Start with the basics--do not panic--be calm and wait on the Lord. He will not panic and there is no need for you to.
3)Ask the Lord to be merciful, clear, and kind with ya. Tell him you are seeking his face and you need his council and understanding.
4) Confess your sin, as you know them, ask the Lord to reveal those things that he has need of you confessing ( you will be surprised at the things the Lord brings to mind )--do not brush over, make excuses for, or ignore them. Listen to him--he is not going to beat you severely.
5) Keep this line open (as in often) and give him praise for everything that is going on. Because he is allowing it for GOOD not for bad, and he will see you thru it (on his time schedule, not yours). You can only hasten the outcome by bending to his will and council and agreeing with him.
6) AND THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT--Make sure your relationship with the Lord is genuine. This is not as embarrassing as it may seem, he understands and he will be gentle in his response. Please listen for the response and respond to it. You are most important to him and he, again, is not going to embarrass or beat you. Remember that he is on your side and would not be dealing with you if he had turned his face from you.
You have worth to the Lord and he will respond too you and you should accept his council.
Blessings

Thanks to you all.
It is nice of you to take my hand, and have a kind word for a total stranger.
I think that part of my problem is that even though I was raised a Christian
at times I don't act Christ-like and have doubts. I wish I could feel the bond that many of you have with Jesus and totally trust in Him.
I am trying to be a follower but have trouble walking the line.
I just hope the current problems are just a passing distraction and I can focus on my family and my faith.
Thanks again, and may God bless you all.

Acorn-
Check it out with the Lord. He will not beat up on you but will lead you to the truth--and it will set you free--no matter the answer.
Been there, done that and got the marks to prove it.
your faith is not uncommon and your walk is not that strange--Just don't trust in a ritual, test your faith against Christ and he will prevail.
your trials are for a good thing, give praise to the Lord for them. if you had no trials then it is for certain the Lord would have no interest in you. He does not allow them for his entertainment but for your well being and good.
Blessings

Karl,  It seems as though the Lord is continuing to draw you to Himself.  If you were not one of His children you would not be feeling remorse over your conflict.  Our flesh wants to be God.  It came as part of the fall when Adam and Eve decided to say yes to Satan...  "You will be like gods".  Seek good counsel from God's word and then obey it.  Memorize and meditate on scripture that is applicable to your struggles. . . the Holy Spirit will use it to change you.  Maybe find someone to have as an accountability partner and meet weekly with them.  Finally pray with your wife (family?), after all they are also effected by your struggles as you are with theirs.

Sorry to hear about your troubles friend.
Someone once told me... When you pray you are talking to God, when you read the bible he is talking to you.
The best advice I can give you it read the bible every day and try your best, pray lots and make amends for any sins if possible.
For what it's worth you must be on the right track if you understand the power of prayer.
Open your heart , open your mind and you may be suprised at what you may find!
Good luck sir, I will mention you to God tonight.

A heartfelt thanks to all of you that have responded. It really is a blessing to have you here.
I'm having some computer problems lately so I may not be able to converse here with you. I may have to rely on my work computer.
Your advice is heard and I am putting it all in God"s hands. What more can I do?
Again, may God bless you.

Join the club friend.  Most of the problems most of us face are actually because of our own doing or are intensified by our own doing. - And the 'own doing' which causes problems is normally self centeredness.

Understand that God hears everything we think, all the time.  In other words,  don't think you can think or do different than what you 'pray to God'.  When we come to realize that God knows all, is our Father, with the same Father spirit and love that He put in good human fathers, that He is the LIVING GOD and always with us, we will begin to train our thoughts to be open to him continually.  When we reach this point, He will then make his presence known to us, and if we make it our primary desire to do His will, prayer answers will become routine.

Hard times with no where to turn except God are in fact the only way most people will ever learn that God can be relied upon.  Perhaps the most shocking experience of my life was after I was indicted.  I couldn't  sleep that first night, and at 2 in the morning "thought to God' , (without really realizing that He was listening). - "Father.  The courts and attorneys are so corrupt I know they will hurt me, and I don't have a clue how to defend myselft in court.  Can I count on you to defend me in this?" -I got an instant answer, the first in my 59 years!  Loud and clear He answered: " Simple child, I put my spirit of protection for my children into every living being, I put it in YOU. - You my son are under the protection of Almighty God."

That was 6 years ago, and though I did hire attornies and get hammered by them and the court, I realized that hiring men was my own doing which put Gods promise PARTLY on hold until I learned to trust Him fully.  I know that His full defense is soon to come, and I've had many experiances of hearing from God, through visions, his voice, and shockingly, while reading the Bible, by a lighted verse in the Bible,  or a verse "made real" by grabbing me till my pulse raced when I read it, or by having God speak extra words to personalize a verse as I read it.

Don't expect these profound 'words from God' to come often, but we can be sure that He will guide you through your problems some how if you ask Him too, and most of the time the guidence will come so silently that we don't realize it unless we ponder it a while.  Same with healing miracals.  God answers MANY prayers and is never given credit, because His healing is normally so gently given that we just quit hurting and don't realize He did it.  I've had hundereds of dramatic healings on myself and others, and in most cases,  they weren't instant, but took a few minutes or hours with the recipient often not realizing they were healed until asked later!  Nothing is too big for God.  Give Him your problems, knowing that He hears.  Then PAY ATTENTION and ponder whether your request was answered a few days or weeks later.  You'll find your faith increasing dramatically as you realize that God is your loving Father, is listening, and answering!  In ways to profound for the human mind to comprehend!
