Hi all,
  I just got my new Montana Rifle Co. LH short action. REALLY impressed. As my 25 Souper was "absconded" with by a friend this might be just the thing for the next Souper. If not that maybe another 260 AAR.

Is it the stainless or the blued action?

How do you like it?  Is it smooth?  Do you think you need to do any work to it?  How's the trigger?

How much was that custom rifle?  I'am LH to I see alot  of rifles I like that don't come in LH. Send us a picture if you can.:wink:

Hate to rain on your enthusiasm but actions have never ment much to me.  Barrels now are another story.  If you like to set around the camp fire and talk about the "claw", well OK.  If you want accuracy look to the Rem. 700 action and of course a good barrel.

I`m like Raz. I have alot of different rifles built on alot of different actions and they all shot, but some were alot more accurate than others and I believe it to be more due to the barrel than the action. I`ve heard some good things about the Montaina actions, but have no experance with them. I have had gun with several different Rem. actions., a few different Win. actions, several different Mauser actions, Enfield actions, Marlin actions, a M-77 Ruger and who knows what else. They all went bang, and sent the bullet in the general direction that I was looking. The right load is needed for any rifle to shoot it`s best, and without a good barrel no rifle will shoot good. Slow lock time and weak action can be compinsated for, bat if you have a bad barrel you have nothing.

You are really lucky, I have had a .375 length action on order for over14 mo. and it is paid in advance, still do not have it but it is left hand. My customer is getting rather impatiant and I am thinking of canceling out because every time I call them I get anothert excuse and am told around two weeks until I get it.    So far that two weeks has turned into about a year not real profesional in my book!!!!

If the barrel of a rifle is it's heart the action is the soul.  If you truly believe the action has no bearing on the rifle, build your next custom rifle on an Arisaka action.  Put on a great barrel and a nice piece of wood or perhaps a synthetic stock..  The Arisaka is the strongest of the military rifle actions of WWII..  Unfortunately they are a bit ugly.  Now a nice M70(pre-64) with pretty wood and a great barrel.  Which would you want most?  Why?

4 days ago I received a phone call from MRC that I had been waiting for for over  15 months.
They had my left hand chrome moly action ready to ship over to Serengeti stocks. They had it barreled with their 21" #4 sporter weight in 358win. The crown was recessed, the action (at my request) was trued, polished inside, and the lugs were lapped along with the raceways.
They sent it over to Serengeti to get fitted to a AA Claro stock that will be fancied up with checkering, ebony forearm, metal grip cap and their semi-custom oil finish. They were nice enough to sent them the unblued action barrel so they could fit it with worring about scratches. When fitting is done they'll sent it back to MCR for a matte blue finish.
Now all I have to do is wait another 14 weeks(Serengeti's time line) to finally get it.

Is it true that the new CZ 3 is actually from Montana Rifle Co.  As I understand it, the barreled action is made by Montana rifle.  If this is true, may buy one & put it in an Mcmillian.

Yes it is true, but last I knew they were made for the WSM rounds only........I'd love a regular stainless CZ 550 in a McMillan stock!!
