I just ck'd out my first Savage Accutrigger. Not being a strong Savage fan I was really wondering what kind of a weird trigger set up this was . . . until I pulled one back. I gotta say that the 2004 Savage bolt actions and the accutrigger have drawn me closer to appreciating this rifle. The 2004 actions seem different to me than the ones I ck'd out last year. More solid and smoother. And this trigger really is something good. It compares, in my mind, with the smoothness and crispness of any other very good trigger I have pulled. I still think they are kind of ugly overall and have a weak/wiggly synthetic stock, but I give them high grades on the action and trigger. Not that anybody would really care :wink:

I am going to have to agree with everything you said. I examined many rifles this afternoon and the new Savage 12 Varminter low profile was one I am really considering to buy. Also, I am looking hard at the .204 cal as I am thoroughly impressed by what has been written and what some have said around here who already have them. I think this combination could be an outstanding setup topped with a Bushnell 4200 Elite scope.

I recently purchased a Model 11 with accutrigger. It is a .223 Remington. The new trigger seems to be a big improvement. I will enjoy becoming more familar with this new rifle. It shows signs that it will be very accurate.

finally got to shoot my 12fv today,wind 10-15 left to right,at 100 yards 4 shots 1 flyer,next 3 touching,the flyer about 1 inch or less to the 3 touching. the accutrigger is very nice, takes a little getting use to compared to my remington 700 .223.

I just purchased a new Savage 10FP 308 and put a Choate Varmit Stock on it with a Sightron 4X16 S11 scope with mildot. I was breaking it in the other day cleaning between each shot and I had a clover leave 4 shot group which measured 1/2 inch total. It doesn't get any better I thought until I went to the 200 yard line and shot a three shot group which measured 3/4".

I love the accutrigger with no creep whats so ever, they did a great job on this.

Got to agree that the Accutrigger looks funky at first, but it grows on you especially after shooting with it. I decided to be open-minded and bought a 12FV in 223, can't wait until I get another Savage with accutrigger. Normally I have to have a gunsmith adjust the pull before any of my rifles will shoot decently for me. The 12FV was the first one that required nothing more than mounting the scope before driving tacks.

Started with a 12BVSS in .223 with the new trigger when they first became available, topped it with a bushnessl 10X Mildot and propped her up with a Harris 6-9" bipod. Sub MOA outa the box with handloads. Liked it so much I bought its big brotrher in .308 and outfitted him the same.

The .308 was a bit more work to get a load it liked but when I did, hot or cold again Sub MOA.

The laminated wood stock takes care of any "flimsy" stock complaints

The .223 has a bit over 500 rounds through it with the .308 just turning the corner on 200 rounds. Both shooting reloads, the .223 with W748/cci mag primers/Sierra MK bullet, the .308 likes the MK Sierras/cci mag primers with AA5744 (and that was a surprise)..

Would not hesitate to recommend this line of rifles to anyone.

I have only seen one wood stocked Savage, in real life. For some reason all the stores that I have looked at them in carry only the synthetic ones. But the one wood stocked one I saw was of very solid construction.

I just got the 10fp-le2 and I set the trigger to it's lowest "setting" it is very light Almost to light for hunting and takes a little to get use to but once you do you wish other gun makers would put them on there guns

I have an older Savage 110 and have replaced the trigger with a Timney. Does the new Savage trigger compare....does anyone have an opinion who has tried both?

The new Savage trigger is VERY comparable to a good Timney set up by a gunsmith. If a trigger has no creep and only 2.5 pounds of pull, it really does not matter where it came from, :wink:

If I understand correctly the trigger pull will only go down to 2 lbs. If that is correct I can do that with my Tikka and have no strange trigger to get used to. I could understand the Accutrigger thing if you could say go down to 1 or even less pounds. Now that would be a great!!

But only 2 pounds

No big deal in my book.

it depends on the model rifle you get. I have a 10fp-le2 and I can go down to about 1 1/2.

My M10 when adjusted down to it's lowest trips the gauge at 1.3 pounds. It is not just the adjustments of the AccuTrigger it is the safety aspect of it too. In my opinion Savage deserves a big pat on the back for designing this trigger. At least Savage didn't go the way of other companies and let the lawyers dictate what their trigger should do. Lawdog

LD is correct. To get a good out of the box trigger anywhere else you generally have to go to out of the country manufacturers.
