45/70 Velocities Guide Gun vs. 1895

Just curious about the difference in velocity between the Guide Gun, and the 1895 using the same loads.  Have any of you had the opportunity to test these two, side by side?

I got 20 fps per inch difference on average with two loads.  I've seen others get about 25 fps per inch.  Depends on the intensity of the load.

I get about the same as jackfish, It will vary some with different weight bullets, But its not enough to worry about, I doubt that a deer or hog would be able to tell which was which, Its just going to hurt a little while
and he or she will be laying real still when you get there. Have a good day.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'll tell you why I asked about this. I had just cut 5" off the barrel of my 45/70. No, not my Guide Gun, but an H+R Buffalo Classic. It now bears a 27" barrel, instead of the factory 32". It has less recoil, even though it lost some weight, and is much easier to swing for hunting. I was curious how much velocity I lost by doing this.
Thanks again!
