Value on Stevens 94
« on: June 10, 2004, 08:04:50 AM »
I have a friend whose husband had a Stevens 20ga model 94, Series N.  He has been deceased for 5 years and she no longer wants it around.  Chambered for 2.75" and 3" shells.  28" barrel.  I haven't been able to figure out what choke it has, but it is fixed, not threaded or adjustable.  Has a curved Pistol grip stock with checkering on the grip and forearm.  Hard plastic buttplate.

It has probably never been fired, just collected dust.  Blueing is untouched, merely a handling mark or two.  Wood has a few scuffs and knicks from handling and storage, but nothing on the checkering.  I would conservatively rate it at 95% condition.

I promised her I'd find out a good estimate for a selling price, so I'm wondering what a retail, private sale, and dealer cost price would be on this pre-owned shotgun.  Also, it would be nice to know what choke it has.  I have many guns already, no money, and no use for it myself, otherwise I'd make an offer for it.  Depending on your numbers, I yet may, but also want my friend to get a fair deal.

Thanks!  This site has always been a great source for info on great American sporting arms.

I have several of these. One in 16 ga. and one in 12 ga. In perfect condition maybe 100.00  .  In average condition, 75.00   . In less than average condition,  55.00

Is that what you'd pay a dealer for one on his shelf, what a private sale would pay, or what a dealer would pay to put it on his shelf and then mark up?

Thanks!

So when I guestimated that a shop would pay her $50 for it, I was pretty much right on?

I think that is a little high. If it is in perfect condition maybe.
