I got my new Classic Hunter 657

 Well I finally got my S&W 657 classic hunter in .41 mag. I haven't got the chance to wring it out yet, but I hope to have it ready for deer season. Any pet loads for this gun? The trigger seems to break crisp at about 4#. If these old eyes can, we will just us the iron sights. Rick..

Man, I am jelous. I bet that is a sweet gun.

I have one load with two different bullets that I use in three different .41's all with great results. I have a Blackhawk,Redhawk, and of course a Contender and they all like 18.0 Grs of 2400 with either Speer 220 gr JSP or Hornady 210 HP-XTP. I have always used magnum primers with 2400.

I shot the Speer for a lot of years and tried the Hornady. I like it just as well. The deer don't like either one very nuch.
Good Luck and enjoy that new toy!

I took a nice 8 point last december with my 657 CH II.  Handloaded 210 XTP over 19.5g of W-296, and a CCI mag primer.  Dropped instantly with a neck shot.  I'm sure my taxidermist was not happy with that exit hole!
Praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition!
