I had one for awhile in 30.06 and sold it to a buddy. He still has it and loves it. It had a beautiful MonteCarlo stock. I imagine you could convert it but I am not an expert in that area.

I understand the 30-06  was  built on german mauser k98  actions. Not sure what barrels they used though.I don't think they've been in production for a number of years.

ratherbefishin,

I have a Parker-Hale Deluxe that I used to build my .30-338 on.  Parker-Hale used the civilian Mauser 98 actions and there should be no problem re-chambering it to .35 Whelen.  Just make sure a gunsmith checks out the action first.  I really like that roll over Monte Carlo stock with their white line spacers and the rosewood grip caps/foreend tips.  Small groups and tight lines to you.  Lawdog

Any idea of where I might find a compatable 35 whelen barrel?and what would a typical charge from a gunsmith be to switch the barrel?

If it is a Parker Hale on a commercial M98 then Midway sells short chambered 35 Whelen barrels that a gunsmith can install for around 50 dollars.  I have had good results from Adams and Bennet barrels in 7MM, .277 and .22 calibers.
