new bisley barrel
« on: May 26, 2004, 06:32:00 PM »
Well I went to a gun show like a fool with my tax return in my pocket and saw a well used ruger bisley 44 mag for $250, I talked the guy down to $215.  the barrel had been cut off at the end of the ejector housing a homemade front sight was put on a good deal of the bluing was gone but no rust pitting, a project gun if there ever was one.  my question is  has anyone put on a 4 5/8 super blackhawk barrel on a bisley and if it works will the front sight have to be changed/replaced with a pinned blade front sight I'd like to use 250 gn hard cast keith bullets thanks for any input
are you shure thats one hole?

If it were me, I'd find a take-off barrel on ebay, take it to a good 'smith, have it cut where I wanted, and have the factory front sight re-mounted. Have it test-fired with your loads and see where it shoots. Then, go from there. :money:

Congratulations of wise use of your money. Dave Clements usually has some takeoff barrels. I have a 44 super blackhawk barrel lying around for 25 dollars including shipping if you would like it.
