Shotgun Scope Recommendation
« on: May 26, 2004, 04:57:56 AM »
I just got a new NEF 20ga shotgun with a rifled barrel.  This gun will be used mostly for hunting, what are the scope recommendations for this shotgun.  Thanks, Mike.

I would seriously look at the Bushnell Elite 3200 1.5x-4.5x-32mm Firefly.  I have one mounted on my .375H&H and it has performed perfectly!

Also, the magnification range is perfect for your shotgun.

Thanks for the reply Zachary.  The 3200 1.5-4.5x32 has the parallax set to 100 yds (according to the Bushnell web site).  I just ordered the Bushnell Trophy 1.75-5x32 (parallax 50 yds) from "The Optic Zone".  I was pretty sure the scope power should be low, your recommendation confirmed it.  Thanks again. Mike, I don't think you'll regret buying the Bushnell Trophy scope. They are a very good scope for the money. The optics are clear and bright. I have two, both the 1.75x4x32 shotgun- muzzleloader scope wih the circle-X reticle. Had one for six years, the other for three. They have performed flawlessly for me. One on an 1187 slug gun the other on an Encore 209x50 muzzleloader. Good luck with it I hope you enjoy it as much I do mine.  :-)

GrampaMike,

Yes, if you shooting will be inside the 50 yard mark, then the Trophy, which has a parallex at 50 yards, would be a good choice.  The 3200 is a better scope, but even a scope made out of gold won't be of much use to you if it doesn't meet your intended purpose.

Don't worry about the Trophy, it is still a good scope for the money.  Tell us how you like it after you mount it and shoot it.

I also vote for the Bushnell Trophy.  I also have two of them.  I ordered one for my Ultra Slugger 12GA two years ago and I liked it so much that I purchased a second one for my Rem 870 with the Hastings Cantilever Mount Fully Rifled barrel.  Neither has strayed from their intended zero over the past two seasons.  I put Winchester Partition Gold 2.75" sabots through the US and Brenneke 2.75" KO Sabots through the 870.  Both are highly recommended...You can't beat them for $85.00.
