Does a sporter style Mcmillan stock weigh any more than the injection molded stocks that now come on Remington rifles? Jeff

jcurrie - I replaced the the injection molded stock on my Rem 700 SS BDL with a McMillian stock. The new stock is about 6oz heavier but it's much better than the factory one :-D I'm glad I replaced mine and I know that you'll be glad you did too..

I have replaced several factory injected molded plastic stocks with McMillan and HS Precision stocks. Yes, they are heavier, but not by much. Still, when you consider how stable these stocks are, and how superior they are to plastic, the little extra weight is insignificant.

You need to be looking at Borden/Rimrock stocks. They weigh 1/2lb less then a Mcmillan have a classic style to them come with camo colors in the gelcoat and may be the best handling , best feeling synthetic made. Played around with a 7x57 remington that was bedded in one of these and never have seen a better synthetic stock. I have Mcmillan stocks at home and HS precision but this is in a different category
