Ruger Ivory Grips
« on: May 16, 2004, 06:42:16 PM »
:cb2: I bought a Vaquero with the imitation ivory grips, however the grips were damaged and Ruger sent replacement grips. They fit OK, but overhang at the bottom and really don't fit flush with the grip frame.

Is this normal?
Can I sand these or something without hurting the finish?

I've never had these grips before. They seem to be a might on the fragile side.

yes they can be sanded. Just progressively go to finer paper and finish up with fine steel wool to polish.

Yes you can sand them or use a dremmel tool with very fine grit, Just be carefull you don' take too much off. You can polish the edges with some real fine paper. Main thing,, keep checking your progress so you don't
go too far. stay safe griz. ..........Joe..............................................
