I picked up one of these about two months ago. It looks nice and feels good but two times out of a moon clip it would not fire the round. This was a random occurrence. I started looking around and the firing pin protrusion was only 38 thousands. There was a raised area that wasn’t machined on the left side of the hammer shroud. You could see the ping this was putting on the hammer. I found a small file that would reach in and allow me to file safely. The firing pin protrusion is now 52 thousandths. I hope to make it out next weekend and see if this cured the problem.

Be Safe,
Scott

How was the trigger on your gun?  I bought a 627PC 38 Special a couple of years ago and the trigger was very poor! Sent it to a gunsmith and now it's smooth as glass.

-8rounder-

The action felt a little gritty strait out of the box but after 100 dry fires or so it feels real good. In order for me to hone down the high spot in the trigger shroud I had to disassemble the gun to remove the hammer. While the side plate was off I inspected the internals. I was really shocked at the poor quality of parts inside. Of course the trigger and hammer are hard chromed to make for a silky smooth action but the square ness of the touching surfaces on the trigger, sear and rebound block left a lot to be desired. For an ‘upper quality gun’ they still put those darn roll pins for a trigger over travel screw. I will admit to this being the tightest double action revolver I own. The cylinder shake and play are almost nil however the overall fit of the internal parts along with the unmachined area of the hammer shroud disappoints me.

If I invest another 800 bucks in a DA revolver I will buy a standard model for 500 bucks and let a smith work 300 worth the magic. The best feature of the Performance center guns are sleek looking barrels and the hard chromed trigger and hammer.

I'm planning to have this one sent off for an action job and get the hammer bobed.

Be Safe,
Scott

my first one shot horrible with anything but really heavy bullets. sold it.
my fried had same tble and snt it bak to smith shop twice.he said they
finely got it right.when he tired of it i bought it frm him and low and
behold i had the same issues as with the first gen. i sold it to a guy who
wanted to shoot only the heavy bullets which shot really well but dint
make power factor for major.maybe the barrel twist needs to be addressed.anyways why shoot a .38 comp'd super unless you can make
major with light fast loads to wrk the comp.
