.338 bullets for around 2000fps
« on: January 09, 2003, 10:55:29 AM »
Searching for bullets that would work around the 2000fps range. Most .338 bullets are made for higher velocities, so wondering what you .338 pistol shooters have had great luck with? Thanks for any info! Dennis

I think that Lee makes a mold for a cast 338 bullet.  If you cast it you can determine how hard or soft it is and I would think it would be a good hunting bullet.

You can only hit the target if the barrel is pointed in the right direction when the bullet leaves the barrel.

I don't think you really need to worry about the bullet expanding at 2000 fps with the 338 bullets. I have not shot any, but I do shoot 235 gr bullets out of my 375JDJ and those bullets, at 2150-2200fps expand very well on deer out to 200 yds, even though reloading manuals show this bullet being pushed quite a bit faster out of the rifles. :-)
