Thanks for your replies! I´m using my Marlin already with a scope and a red dot sight (kind of Aimpoint). That red dot sight (OneV, swedish) stays on top most of the time. But when tracking wounded game in Europe, especially russian boar, a lot of things can go wrong, so Mr. Murphy himself would be impressed! Till now the red dot sight hold up through the thickest brush and even covered with snow, mud and half the inventory of thick brush, the red dot still could be seen. But for the case, your dog keeps the boar busy, you should not be surprized by a broken scope, when you take the gun from your back to shoot! So I see a need to remove it quickly and use open sights!
Keeping a spare scope for that case seems wasted money for me, so I try to find out, how to keep my Leupold QR mount, before investing again in another system.
Until now I´m using a Pump Gun for the tracking, but sometimes you may have to shoot a bit farer too.
