I've got a .44 Vaquero. I've been reading here about fitting wide-spur hammers on Ruger SA's (coming from Super Blackhawks?). I've seen the wide-spur type hammer on the Colt Python and much prefer it to the narrow type on my Vaquero. So, how big a deal (parts availability, effort, $$) is it to get this done; and who do you-all recommend to do this conversion (or is it home-do-able)? TIA. Peter F.

Go to www.ruger-firearms.com and order one from them. As cheap as anyone. With you manual, you should be able to swap it out yourself. Same frame, same parts.

Dave clements sells them allready cut for a 3-4lb trigger with little or no creap.

BH44: So, looking up as you suggested, I see: "Hammer Assembly KMR04001B Super Blackhawk & Hunter - Stainless Models $30.00". Is that the critter I'm looking for (my Vaquero is stainless)? And you say installation is fairly straightforward, right? (my gun is otherwise factory-stock, with no action tweaking, base pin, etc.).

If I wanted the hammer, PLUS other action tweaking (a'la Dave Clements), what are we talking money-wise?

I've done just what you are asking about. It was a drop-in, very nice looking, and easier for me to use.
