Tale of woe
« on: May 06, 2004, 07:12:12 AM »
A buddy of mine paid about $1,700 for a new Beretta over/under and he can't hit anything with it. The gun just doesn't fit him. He's a pretty good shot with other guns.  This is a lesson in what happens to people who buy something because the like the product brand, rather than buying something because it's a good fit.  Now he's going to either get a new stock made at a high cost, or that Beretta is going to sit in his safe unused.

Getting the right equipment is a courtship process, not just writing a check.

I can shoot it well too. It's a great gun. But my friend has a very different build, and that seems to make a big difference.

Never ceases to amaze me that a guy will turn himself inside out making sure that a $200.00 sports coat fits correctly, yet this same guy will plop down $2K for a shotgun or custom rifle and never even ask about fitting. There are things we should all experience at least once in a lifetime, as shooters one of those things is to shot a long gun that has been fitted to you. Brings the experience to a whole different level of REALLY NICE.
