I started handloading this spring for this caliber. first two loadings were win. cases, H335 powder[44.5g],win. LR primers. Both were 225g bullets, one partition the other a ballisic tip. Both seem to shoot wonderfully. Am having a problem with the primers but thanks to the reloading site here have that problem taken care of! Just remember this is for my gun, so start  at 2 or 2.5 lower and work your way up.!!!!!  According to my book the max. is 48g.....Hope this helps.  I also shoot the BLR. Its one heck of a gun....

Thanks for your help. Hornady does not share the data over the net any more , as I tried today over the net.
The BLR is the new light weight 358 W.
From what I have read this caliper should  take all game in the central Ontario bush were we live.
Thanks again.

Harry:

I hunt relatively near you in McKenzie TWP Parry Sound.  My BLR in .358 Winchester has served me well over the pat 20 years in that area.

I don't have my loading book near at hand, but the load I use for 200 grain bullets including Hornady Spire Points, Sierra Round Nose and some of my own is 53.7 grains of Win 748.  This load has produced about 2450 fps.

I currently load 220 grain bullets of my own manufacture, and use 48 grains of 748 producing about 2340 fps of velocity.

I've shot a few deer with 180 grain Speers that I load with IMR 4895 to a reduced velocity (sub 2500 fps).  I can't recall the load at this time.

I'm planning to begin experimenting with H335, and a couple of others this year to see what happens.

Hunting is Exciting!  Bolt actions are BORING!!
Don't mix the two!
