TScottO - I've got them on my Ruger M77 ultra light in 30-06 and my Marlin 1895 Guide gun in 45-70 and they've NEVER let me down! They stay zeroed in after removal and re-installation. They're as good as my Leupold QD rings that are on my other rifles. You just need to position the levers correctly so that they won't snag on brush. I like them very much! CEJ..

That's all I have ever used on my 77's (.338 WM and custom .450 Marlin)and they always return to zero. I have Leupold QRW's on other rifles and they work just as well also.

Well... Damn... I guess long actions and short scopes don't mix too well. The Waren QD and the stock ruger rings do not allow the 2.5x8x36 leupy vx3 to fit. Spaced too far a part. Guess I'll have to find some off set rings of some sort! And my day was going so good.... :cry:

TScottO - Are you sure about that? :eek: Thats the exact set up I've got on my Ruger M77 Ultra light in .30-06. Warne QD rings and a leupold 2.5x-8x vari-x III scope. The rings fit into the factory bases and give me some adjustment for eye relief. Works perfectly! It's an older scope, so maybe it might be a little longer than your newer one? I'm sorry about causing you a problem by recommending the Warne rings but I thought they'd work great for you... :oops: Damn...

Hey CEJ,

IÂ’m sure but I wish I wasnÂ’t. I was concerned about this before I ordered the rings. Warne and I had a conversation and we had discussed this very issue. I ordered these not knowing if they would fit or not. ItÂ’s not a loss, IÂ’ll use these on another gun. No big deal. My 77 has the magnum length action. This long action simply places the rings too far a part for a mid range scope. Currently I am looking for a high quality set of offset rings. Hopefully I will find something that will work. I really donÂ’t want to use a large scope on this gun.

BTW, if you haven't had a chance to look through the 2004 vx3 you'll be deligted when you get the chance.

TScottO - :oops: Sorry about that! I forgot that I was on the big bore forum! I should have known you were talking about a magnum length action instead of a standard length action! I could have warned you that they wouldn't work. You might want to check with the guys at Brownell's, they may be able to help you out. That's the only problem with the Ruger built in bases, getting shorter scopes to fit. Your right about the vx-III's, I just put a 4.5x-14x on my .300RUM. Great scopes! CEJ...

I put a set on my Ruger 77 Express rifle in 270 Winchester. I LOVE them!
